When President Bush addressed the Israeli Knesset last week, he hit the
nail directly on the head with his remarks about some who would seek to
appease terrorists. Bush said: "Some seem to believe that we should
negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious
argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along."
"We
have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into
Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: 'Lord, if I could only
have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided.' We have an
obligation to call this what it is _ the false comfort of appeasement,
which has been repeatedly discredited by history."
The Democrats went ballistic, accusing Bush of impugning Obama, who called Bush's remarks a false political attack. Everyone from Nancy Pelosi
to John Kerry jumped all over the president, saying this kind of talk
was beneath the dignity of the Commander-in-Chief, and decrying Bush's
own foreign policy.
The Oval Office went on the defensive, claiming that Bush's comments were directed at Jimmy Carter, not Barack Obama. The fact of the matter is that Bush's statements were dead on, and they were directed not only at Obama, but to Democrats like Pelosi, Kerry and others who would attempt to honor our enemies around the world; those that would threaten to destroy us.
What Bush should have said in response to the Democrats' attacks is "If the shoe fits, wear it!"
Let's
face it. What does he have to lose? He's in the final stretch of a lame
duck presidency, and every word he uttered was the truth. And I would
take it one step further.
Obama is not attempting to appease the terrorists.
Obama, by willing to unconditionally sit down with leaders such as
Ahmadinejad, prove that
Obama himself is the biggest terrorist threat right now to the safety and security of our nation.
A vote for
Obama this November, will be a vote for Sharia law.
