Obama's Muslim Outreach Has Dangerous Implications

The world apology tour rolled on this past week as Barack Hussein Obama continued his mea culpa for everything the United States has stood for, and reversing over 30 years of policy by indicating quite strongly that Iran has the right to pursue its nuclear ambitions. To be precise, he said Iran has the right to nuclear energy, but since there is no way to verify that their uranium enrichment program will be used solely for the peaceful purpose of nuclear power, by implication he has offered to let them build a bomb capable of wiping Israel off the face of the earth.

Obama also threw Israel under the bus, by pushing for a Palestinian state and telling Benjamin Netanyahu to back out of their settlements.

Did we not see this coming as far back as the presidential campaign? We know Obama is no friend to Israel. The Israeli people are also keenly aware of this fact, and although they continue to use restraint in their rhetoric towards those who would seek their annihilation, how much longer will it be before it is incumbent upon them to launch a preemptive strike against their enemies?

This whole idea of a Muslim outreach should make anyone who remembers that fateful day in September of 2001 want to vomit. We lost almost 3000 of our fellow citizens in the horrible attacks of 9/11. And although it is a radical faction of Islam that was responsible for the vicious murder of innocent lives, the more moderate Muslim community has failed to speak out against the hatred and violence. Whether this is due to a fear of reprisals, or because of a tacit approval of this jihad remains to be seen.

A puzzling aspect to all of this outreach nonsense is the sudden emergence of Barack Hussein Obama's Muslim roots.

All during the presidential campaign, Obama and his minions went out of their way to downplay any connection he had to the Islamic world. Thou dared not speak his middle name without being properly chastised. The revelation that he spent time in a madrassa as a youth was dismissed as irrelevant, immaterial and a distraction from his message.

Now, however, Obama proudly proclaims his Muslim heritage, and it is just fine and dandy to use his middle name. Now his past is a convenient truth as he attempts to coddle those who would seek our destruction.

This cozying up to the Islamic world has dangerous implications to the United States and its citizens.

The Islamic world does not view Obama's outstretched hand as a sign of friendship. They view it as weakness, and a radical ideology that advocates conversion by the sword will utilize this weakness to take advantage of the opportunity to attack our nation again.

If Obama believes that by placating these hate-filled idealogues he will be better able to fulfill his constitutional obligation to protect our country from enemies both foreign and domestic, he is sadly mistaken.

Frankly, however, it is unlikely that this is the reasoning behind this outreach.

More likely is the fact that his Islamic past has shaped his world view to the point that he is actually simpatico with their values and their stated goals.

And that puts our nation at peril.

Republicans Must Oppose Sotomayor

Judge Sonia Sotomayor, Barack Obama's pick to replace David Souter on the United States Supreme Court, will be confirmed. Nothing anyone can do or say can prevent that.

Republicans are falling all over themselves trying to determine whether it is in their best interest to make a show out of fighting her nomination. The infighting among conservatives escalated to a head this past week with Rush Limbaugh and Newt Gingrich calling her a racist, and former congressman Tom Tancredo comparing the organization La Raza, of which Sotomayor is a card carrying member, to the Ku Klux Klan without the white hoods.

Are these accusations and comparisons accurate? Should conservatives fight tooth and nail to prevent her confirmation when they know the votes are not there to stop it? Or is it political suicide for the GOP to go after this woman when Republicans are trying to court the Hispanic voter base?

Obama, for his part, says attempts to undermine her nomination by conservatives will fail "because Judge Sotomayor's 17-year record on the bench — hundreds of judicial decisions that every American can read for him or herself — speak far louder than any attack; her record makes clear that she is fair, unbiased and dedicated to the rule of law."

He claims that her comments that "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life", were taken out of context. Yet these were not off-the-cuff remarks. They were delivered as written in a 2001 speech at the University of California's Berkeley School of Law. Sotomayor made it quite clear what she meant.

Sotomayor's membership in La Raza should also be a cause for concern. La Raza has promoted driver's licenses for illegal aliens, amnesty programs and no immigration law enforcement by state and local police. La Raza as an organization may not reach the level of the KKK, but it certainly promotes rewarding those who have broken the law to enter this country.

And Sotomayor is an activist judge who believes in legislating from the bench. She said the "Court of Appeals is where policy is made." She's wrong , of course. It is the job of the judiciary to apply the Constitution to the law. Nothing more.

Sotomayor is also anti-Second Amendment. as a candidate for a position on the highest court in the land, she presents a tremendous danger to the nation our founding fathers established.

This has the GOP in a quandry.

True, Republicans are a party in disarray at the moment. They do need to reach out to the Latino community. Hispanics are generally Catholic, conservative, pro-life and pro-family. The GOP is afraid of risking the loss of a conservative constituent base it so desperately needs.

However, to sacrifice the same principles that most in the Hispanic community espouse for the sake of placating others would be a mistake that could cost Republicans in the long run.

If the Republicans are ever to return to prominence, they must return to the values that made them a great party in the first place. The only reaching out they need to do is to the conservatives they have disenfranchised and alienated for so long.

Sotomayor will not change the composition of the court. It is exchanging one liberal for another. But the principle of standing for what is right remains a valid one.

Republicans must oppose the confirmation of Sonia Sotomayor.

Bailing Out Obama

Is Barack Obama too big to fail?

That is the question we must ask ourselves as we ponder why a man, who by all accounts is so completely unqualified to be president of the United States, continues to enjoy such high approval ratings and garner the support of the masses who put him into office.

Let's face facts. Obama came out of nowhere, a community organizer from Chicago whose associations with such disreputable characters such as the Reverend Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers went virtually unchallenged by the throngs of supporters who fawned over him throughout the campaign. Like a freight train, he ran over every attempt to challenge his credibility with fancy rhetoric and prepared speeches. The few times he was caught off guard, his gaffes were ignored because to do so, would have meant being called a racist.

Upon his coronation as president, his ambitious agenda was put into high gear. And even though the Democrat controlled congress and some of his staunchest supporters began feeling uneasy about some of his plans, (witness the closing of Gitmo and the transfer of detainees to our shores, and his apologetic attitude to our Islamic enemies and western Europe for America's arrogance), the lovefest, at least on the outside, continued.

Even his far left socialist ideology makes some uncomfortable. But the problem is, too much has been invested in Barack Obama at this stage of the game.

Dick Morris, in a recent column, compared the adoration of the man from Kenya to a recently married bride who is beginning to question whether or not she made the right choice. She is starting to see some things in her new spouse that give her second thoughts, but she doesn't want do bolt from the marriage just yet because to do so would force her to admit her mistake. So she goes into a period of denial and pretends that everything is ok.

In Morris's scenario, however, eventually the bride comes to the realization that the marriage is not going to work and she leaves him. Morris thinks that Obama's base will soon wake up from their self-induced coma of ignorance and turn on him.

But hold the phone.

Like some of the institutions that are the recipients of government salvation, Obama is considered too big to fail. Too much has been invested in this Manchurian president. So despite everything he says and does, not because of it, Obama will continue to be propped up by those who fought so hard to put this usurper into the Oval Office.

Obama is getting a bailout. And our grandchildren will pay for it for years to come.

Oppression Borne Out Of Fear

Barack Obama and the Democrats in Congress are afraid of us. Despite the belief that the overwhelming victory Obama achieved in the November election gave him a mandate do destroy the very foundation of our country through a wholesale change of our economic system to socialism, Obama knows there is unrest among the heartland of America.

He knows that he has finally awakened a sleeping giant. He knows that an apathetic nation of lemmings that will go along with every pork barrel project and entitlement program without resistance no longer exists. Obama and the Democrats know that even though Americans want health care reform, they do not want socialized medicine. They know that most of us do not want our taxes raised to such punitive levels that a real stimulus of the economy will not be possible.

Most Americans are fully aware that the economic stimulus package which was signed into law before nobody read it will make our grandchildren pay for it through such an exorbitant tax rate in their lifetime that there will be no incentive to want to work hard to achieve real wealth.

Obama is fully cognizant of the fact that most Americans want immigration reform, but not through a blanket amnesty program which will grant citizenship to those who broke the law to get into this country. He knows that Americans want border security and protection from those who might enter our country to do us harm.

Obama is also aware that our nation faces great threats from radical Islam. The attacks of September 11th were just the beginning. Subsequent to that horrific day, George W. Bush kept this nation safe, instituting policies that some refer to as torture, but which nonetheless yielded specific information which prevented more massive death and destruction. Obama has laid down our arms and surrendered to the forces of evil despite what the citizens of the United States want, and has left us vulnerable to another attack while he apologizes to the world for our arrogance.

Obama and the Democrats know he faces opposition from mainstreet America, reflected through the popularity of talk radio, the blogosphere, and the number of grassroots organizations that have begun springing up since his election. Obama knows all too well that since November, a nation deeply concerned for its safety, has begun purchasing firearms and ammunition at an accelerated pace, begun storing food, water and supplies, and preparing for a time of great turmoil and unrest.

Obama also knows that America is turning back to God.

That is why the National Day of Prayer was ignored by the first president since its inception during the Truman administration. Obama and the Democrats want religion to go away, to have Americans worship on their knees only to the State, as it is the god that will provide everything its citizens need from cradle to grave.

To that end, the government, led by Obama and the Democrats, wants to silence the opposition. Plans are underway to destroy free speech through the return of the Fairness Doctrine or some reasonable facsimile. Obama also wants to be able to shut down the Internet at a moment's notice, under the guise that during an attack on this nation, the government needs to be able to prevent this conduit of information from being mishandled. New hate crimes legislation will turn any talk of the Bible and religious teaching into hate speech, punishable by fines and imprisonment, as well as the closing of churches and synagogues. He wants to put restrictions on the sale of firearms and ammunitions, to the point that guns will virtually be banned. A nation's right to protect itself will be taken away.

What Obama and the Democrats do not understand, however, is the resolve of the American people. The grass roots organizations and movements that have begun springing up across this nation are not to be dismissed as insignificant. A resistance movement has indeed begun. This movement is not divided along party lines. There are liberals and conservatives, Republicans and Democrats who are beginning to see that governmental oppression of its citizens through excessive taxation and the redistribution of wealth is wrong. There are those on all sides of the political spectrum that want border control, protection of human life, sovereignty, and national security using whatever methods are necessary to save this nation from another attack from those who would seek to destroy us.

Obama and the Democrats know this and they are afraid. All of the attempts to quash this opposition are being borne out of fear. Fear that a citizenry angered by a sharp turn away from what the founding fathers intended for this great country is fueling what will soon be oppression of a people.

Unless...

Is Extremism Dooming The Republican Party?

With the recent defection of Arlen Specter to the Democratic Party, many Republicans are shaking their heads and wondering if the GOP is relegating itself to minority status because its views are too extremist.

Olympia Snowe, in a recent op-ed in the New York Times wrote:

"Regrettably, we failed to learn the lessons of Jim Jeffords’s defection in 2001. To the contrary, we overreached in interpreting the results of the presidential election of 2004 as a mandate for the party. This resulted in the disastrous elections of 2006 and 2008, which combined for a total loss of 51 Republicans in the House and 13 in the Senate — with a corresponding shift of the Congressional majority and the White House to the Democrats. It was as though beginning with Senator Jeffords’s decision, Republicans turned a blind eye to the iceberg under the surface, failing to undertake the re-evaluation of our inclusiveness as a party that could have forestalled many of the losses we have suffered."

Is she right? Have republicans suffered defeats and defections because they have failed to be more inclusive of a diversity of thought, especially when it comes to social issues such as abortion and gay marriage? Or is the exact opposite the case? Did Republicans lose members and elections because they have not held fast to the core principles upon which their very foundation rests?

Democrats would have us believe that this nation is moving further and further to the left. The election of 2008 is proof positive that most Americans are willing to accept socialism over capitalism as an economic system, so they say. People want government controlled health care from cradle to grave. They are willing to put up with the redistribution of wealth in society, as long as everyone gets their fair share.

Americans no longer value the sanctity of human life, believing that it is ok to terminate a pregnancy at even the latest stages if the mother decides she doesn't want the responsibility of parenting. And it's ok to use stem cells from aborted fetuses to develop cures for diseases according to the progressive view.

Gay marriage? Why not, say the liberals. Let every form of debauchery rule the day. Americans don't really care if Tommy has two daddies or Sally has two mommies. Society has evolved, as has our Constitution, living, breathing and fluid. And Republicans, because they hold onto archaic values that oppose these modern ideas, are dooming themselves to the dustbin of history as America moves forward. The election of 2008 was proof positive that the Republican elephant is now a mastodon, say the liberals.

On the other hand, an argument can be made that Republicans lost the elections of 2006 and 2008 because they abandoned their principles. They lost their way on every issue from fiscal conservatism to social values. They turned their backs on the very people who supported them, putting forth candidates such as John McCain, a RINO, souring the electorate to the point where they became so angry and frustrated that they either sat out the elections, or voted for 'hope and change' just to teach them a lesson.

Whether or not America is heading left is yet to be determined. There is evidence that many of those who voted for Obama and the Democrats in the recent election are none too happy with the decisions that have been made with regards to the economic crisis. They see the stimulus package, which nobody read before it was signed into law, and the budget, which will bankrupt this nation and saddle our children and grandchildren with debt that will result in confiscatory tax rates, as obscene and irresponsible. Despite holding a very favorable rating personally among Americans, Obama and the Democrats are making huge missteps which will eventually catch up with him, as the sleeping giant that is mainstreet America wakes up.

Dick Morris, in a recent column, addressed the issue of why Americans continue to be travelling with their heads in the fog of the unknown when it comes to Obama and his popularity. He wrote:

"They are like the recently married bride who took her vows 100 days ago. It would be a disaster for her if she decides that she really doesn't like her husband. But she keeps noticing things about him that she can't stand. It will be a while before she walks out the door or even comes to terms with her own doubts, but it is probably inevitable that she will."

If Morris is to be believed, it is only a matter of time before Americans turn their backs on Obama, and start heading for the hills of conservatism again.

As for social issues, even the most liberal state of California recently voted to uphold the concept of marriage as being between one man and one woman. That should be encouraging to even the most disillusioned conservative.

Rather then trying to become the party of the big tent, then, Republicans should instead stick to their core values. They should hold fast to their principles and find candidates that will reflect and represent those principles.

Yes, in the short run it is going to be painful. Right now, Democrats are at the helm. But as the ship they are sailing enters stormy seas and rough waters ahead, people will realize that the ideas of personal responsibility and fiscal conservatism still matter to the heartland of America.

And if these things, along with the sanctity of human life and traditional marriage make Republicans extremists which dooms them to extinction, so be it. Rather a party go extinct, than the core values that it stands for.

One Hundred Days Of The Dragon

Barack Obama marks his 100th day in office this week, having taken this nation so far to the left in such a short period of time that it has literally made conservative heads spin.

In a whirlwind fashion, his ambitious agenda has taken the nation by storm, putting forth a budget that will bankrupt this nation, and place our children and grandchildren in a position which will force them to pay an exorbitant tax rate of well into their working lives, and perhaps preventing them from ever being able to retire.

The so-called stimulus package which was rushed through Congress like crap through a goose and which neither they nor Obama read, actually does nothing to stimulate the economy and create the 4 million jobs Obama promised.

In the most important job that Obama is charged with, the protection of our nation from enemies both foreign and domestic, Obama receives a failing grade. He has eliminated the term "war on terror" from the lexicon, and replaced it with "overseas contingency operation". And there are no such things anymore as terrorist attacks. They are now "man-made disasters".

Obama has reached out to our enemies with an olive branch, pledging to talk with Iran about their nuclear ambitions. He has cozied up to Castro and Chavez. His apologies to the world for the arrogance of our nation, designed to make the Europeans like us more, has in fact made us appear weak. We don't need other countries to like us. We need them to respect us. And Obama has destroyed any chances of them doing either.

Obama's behavior throughout these first days in office has been reminiscent of a dictator. His narcissistic attitude and his holier-than-thou demeanor is enough to sicken any critical thinking human being. Yet he continues to enjoy a 62% approval rating.

Obviously there's still plenty of Kool-Aid to go around.

Auto Bailout Was A CYA Move

The bailout of Chrysler and General Motors was a simple case of CYA for the Bush Administration. Bush did not want to go out with the collapse of the auto industry happening on his watch.

The $17.4 billion lifeline extended by Bush will not do much in the way of preventing the total collapse of these companies. The viability of the industry is in question and the reckless decisions by management over the course of many years cannot be turned around within a three month period. By March, these guys will have their hands out again, with no significant restructuring plan for retooling themselves. What will the incoming Obama regime do?

Obama has pressed the industry for major changes, including increasing fuel efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. He also wants the maximum number of jobs saved. But at what expense? The problems G.M., Chrysler and Ford face now have been building for decades.

“I do want to emphasize to the Big Three automakers and their executives that the American people’s patience is running out, and that they should seize on this opportunity over the next several weeks and months to come up with a plan that is sustainable. And that means that they’re going to have to make some hard choices,” said Obama.

Clearly both the automakers and the union are unhappy with the conditions placed on this bridge loan to nowhere by the Bush Administration. Ron Gettelfinger, president of the United Auto Workers Union, expressed concern that too much of the burden for concessions is being placed on his folks; namely wage and benefit cuts. But much of the blame for the collapse of the industry is due to the oppressive tactics by the U.A.W. over the years in a time when the car companies have been seeing decreasing market share. Although there was a time when unions served a purpose due to abusive conditions in the workplace, they are now a detriment to both their members and the companies, employing strong arm techniques to extract exorbitant amounts of goodies that are only helping to kill the goose that lays the golden egg.

Obama is going to have to make some tough decisions in the next several weeks, some that the Bush Administration through this temporary lifeline avoided having to make. Are factories being closed and jobs being eliminated in proper numbers? Do the car companies need to use a surgical scalpel or a butcher knife? Are G.M. and Chrysler consolidating their product lines to make the leaner and meaner companies viable? And if not, will Obama have the cojones to call the loans and force the companies into a messy bankruptcy that may threaten to anger the unions that so vehemently supported him during the campaign?

Both G.M. and Chrysler chairmen expressed relief and an almost giddiness at receiving the good news about the bailout. Will they still be as happy come March 31, 2009?

This whole deal was a tremendous mistake. The automakers should have been allowed to fail, even if it meant initiating a domino effect that rippled through the manufacturing industry, with suppliers also falling on their swords. Sometimes the medicine one must take to cure an illness is tough to swallow. But that is what should have been done. The same applies to the financial institutions and mortgage companies.

But the fact remains that the government has become the nannies of our nation, refusing to allow failure of any sort. The founding fathers must be turning in their graves.

No matter to George W. Bush. He covered his rear end and exposed Obama's.

Business as usual in Washington.

The Blago Scandal Should Finish Obama

The latest scandal involving Barack Obama's senate seat and Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich threatens to erupt into something the likes of which has not been seen since the days of Watergate.

The very fabric of this nation could be torn apart as Obama, who had promised open government but has given us anything but, tries to make us believe he had no direct discussions with Blagojevich over who would succeed him in the Senate.

While this notion is ludicrous on the surface, even if it were true, someone in the Obama camp must have been negotiating with the governor over who the new Senator would be. Rahm Emanuel, Obama's designated chief of staff, is the most likely suspect among those who would have been making backroom deals with Blagojevich. While Emanuel denies that any kind of deal was struck over Obama's preferred successor, it's obvious from taped conversations that he failed to report the offers to sell Obama's seat to the highest bidder to authorities. Even if Emanuel turned Blagojevich down flat, promising him nothing but gratitude for appointing Obama's choice, the stench surrounding him can be smelled from miles away, and his silence on the matter is deafening.

Obama claims he is conducting an internal investigation and will, in a matter of days, release the results of that probe. Does anyone seriously believe that anyone's head will roll?

No, if anything is to be discovered, it will be through the diligent efforts of U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald and his team of crack investigators. How this all plays out with the America people remains to be seen. This could be a tremendous blow to the incoming Obama regime, or it could roll off of his shoulders like every other piece of information regarding his tainted past.

My guess is that this will go nowhere, just like The Reverend Wright, William Ayers, Tony Rezko and Father Pfleger stories. It will be blown off as a "distraction", the same as the constitutional crisis over Obama's birth records. It will be relegated to the scrap heap of history as an asterisk which signifies nothing.

Nevertheless, the right thing to do would be for Emanuel to immediately step down as Obama's chief of staff. As a matter of fact, Obama himself should end this presidential charade before it begins. The appearance of impropriety itself is enough to warrant an end to this lunacy that has been the Obama coronation.

It will not happen, of course. But for the sake of our nation, it should.

Kenya Believe It?

The controversy surrounding Barack Obama's eligibility to assume the presidency of the United States is beginning to get some traction in the mainstream press.

After languishing for the longest time as a story only being covered by the alternative media, whispers of who this guy is and where he originally came from are starting to be heard around water coolers across America.

The Supreme Court was scheduled to meet in conference last Friday to discuss whether to hear arguments in one of several cases involving Obama's eligibility on constitutional grounds. The question surrounds his place of birth. The Constitution requires that anyone serving as president of the United States be a natural born citizen. The case of Leo C. Donofrio v. New Jersey Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells claims that Obama does not meet the Constitution's Article 2, Section 1 "natural-born citizen" requirement for president. Originally denied a hearing by Justice David Souter, it gained new life when Justice Clarence Thomas agreed to bring it back for review. Four of the Supreme Court's nine justices must agree to approve a full hearing.

The interesting thing about Donofrio's case, and what distinguishes it from other cases regarding Obama's birthplace, is that it makes no claim that Obama was born on foreign soil. Instead, it challenges Obama's eligibility on the grounds that Obama was a British citizen at birth, because of citizenship in a British colony, Kenya.

On his blog, Donofrio writes "Don't be distracted by the birth certificate and Indonesia issues. They are irrelevant to Senator Obama's ineligibility to be president. Since Barack Obama's father was a citizen of Kenya and therefore subject to the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom at the time of Senator Obama's birth, then Senator Obama was a British citizen 'at birth.'"

Obama's camp has not denied that what Donofrio is alleging is true. On the Fight the Smears website, they indicate that Obama was a dual citizen of the United States and Britain, but that the British citizenship expired, leaving him with only American citizenship.

Donofrio alleges, however, that the Constitution was written in such a way to exclude dual citizens like Obama. He writes "The Framers of the Constitution, at the time of their birth were also British citizens, and that's why the Framers declared that, while they were citizens of the United States, they themselves were not 'natural born citizens. Therefore, even if he were to produce an original birth certificate proving he were born on U.S. soil, he still wouldn't be eligible to be president."

There are other cases around the country that have challenged Obama on constitutional grounds, all with regard to the citizenship requirement.

Former presidential candidate Alan Keyes is among a group that has filed a petition in California asking the secretary of state to refuse to allow the state's 55 Electoral College votes to be cast in the 2008 presidential election until Obama verifies his eligibility to hold the office.

A group of Washington residents have filed a lawsuit with the state Supreme Court asking the state's votes for President-elect Barack Obama be set aside. James E. Broe of King County and 12 others claim Obama never established that he is a natural-born American citizen as required by the Constitution, and that Obama ran under a false name. There is also a Pennsylvania case brought by Philip Berg.

The mystery in all of this is why Obama hasn't simply resolved the issue by producing a valid birth certificate. He could lay all of this to rest once and for all. Instead, he has chosen to ignore these cases as mere distractions.

But the voices of those demanding answers is now building to a crescendo, and as it does, it becomes obvious that the cacophony will soon be deafening at the steps of high court.

How will they respond?

There are those who say that even if Obama is not a natural-born citizen as required by law, the justices, fearing an uprising unlike anything this country has ever witnessed, will elect not to get involved. This would pose a constitutional crisis.

And our nation may not survive that.

Of Picks And Tics

Barack Obama's liberal base is furious over his decision to pick centrist members for his cabinet and for bringing the Clintons back to the White House.

Obama has angered the far left by retaining Robert Gates as defense secretary, and retired General Jim Jones as national security advisor. And with Hillary Clinton set to take the helm of the State Department, hope and change has taken a back seat to 'stay the course'.

Gates was the architect of the troop surge, which paved the road for what now can be called a decisive victory in the Iraq war. With that in mind, it is highly unlikely that Obama will withdraw our military within the original time frame that he outlined during the campaign. It is also improbable that the defense budget will be slashed anytime soon, as the attention of the war on terror will now turn toward Afghanistan. This will stick in the craw of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, as well as Obama's puppet master George Soros.

Meanwhile, it is being reported that Obama has developed a chronic facial tic brought on by the stress of the presidential campaign. The Secret Service has also had to increase security due to more threats on his life than any other president-elect in history has received. The spasmodic anomaly has supposedly left his wife Michelle very distraught. The pressure that Obama has been under is only bound to increase with the economic downturn set to get worse before it gets better, and world tensions will take their toll as well.

One can only hope that the "messiah" doesn't develop Tourette Syndrome before Inauguration Day. That could prove interesting.

Will Obama Pursue A Centrist Agenda?

The fear that many conservatives had that a Barack Obama presidency might result in an extreme tilt to the left in this country may have been temporarily assuaged by conditions on the ground.

The landscape of this nation has changed greatly over the last several months as an economic meltdown has crippled Wall Street and threatened to throw us into a malaise that has not been seen since the 1930s.

It's amazing that one can campaign on an agenda so sweeping that the very fabric of a country might be forever changed by it, then be forced to completely overhaul that ideology based on reality. It's happened before.

When President George W. Bush took office, he went in with a domestic agenda that included tax cuts, improving education by requiring accountability, and Social Security and Medicare reform. That all changed on September 11, 2001, when our nation was attacked and Bush was forced to become a wartime president.

Fast-forward to 2008. Obama ran on a platform of ending the Iraq war quickly and bringing home the troops within 18 months, repealing the Bush tax cuts immediately and increasing taxes on anyone making over $250,000 a year (or maybe less than that). But a combination of a troop surge that worked, combined with a financial crisis most did not anticipate has put Obama in a position of having to move toward the center.

The evidence of this shift is clear in the selection of many of his cabinet appointments. Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State is actually a safe choice. She understands foreign policy, and she is more hawkish on defense. She voted for the war in Iraq. Obama is also considering asking Secretary of Defense Robert Gates to stay on. That could mean "stay the course" in Iraq...at least for the time being. And for those men and women in our military who are leery of serving under a commander-in-chief who planned to cut and run, Gates retention may provide encouragement.

Domestically, Obama is surrounding himself with moderates like Tim Geithner and Larry Summers who understand the situation and what this crisis could do to our economy. There is now talk of letting the Bush tax cuts expire in 2011 and not raising anybody's taxes in this poor economy. It's clear that those in Obama's inner circle see this nation heading into a depression and want to do everything in their power to stave it off.

Those on the far left who supported Obama based on a radical change to social policies may have to wait. They might be disappointed if they believe that their liberal agenda will be given more than a passing consideration, at least in the first few months of an Obama administration.

If the economy turns around and the future looks bright within the next two years, we may see some of that radical ideology implemented. If not, Republicans may have a chance to reclaim both houses of congress and prevent our country from becoming a suburb of France.

Now We Know What Change Means

For all of the rhetoric during the recent presidential campaign about change, there certainly doesn't appear to be any major shake-up when it comes to the players involved in the new Obama regime.

It looks increasingly like the Clintons are moving back into the White House, and that may provide some comfort to those of us on the right who thought we'd be seeing Tony Rezko, Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright in the situation room at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Don't get me wrong: Barack Obama is one dangerous individual whose Marxist ideology of spreading the wealth around should instill fear into any conservative capitalist. And the thought of Obama answering that all important telephone call at three o'clock in the morning is enough to give any American concerned about national security an ulcer.

But Obama appears to be surrounding himself with the old Democrat guard. Whether he's doing it to reassure the moderates that he is not the radical that he appeared to be in the primaries and the run up to the general election, or to placate the Clintonistas who helped (grudgingly) to send their votes his way is not entirely clear.

In any case, 31 of the 47 appointees named so far have ties to the Clintons. The usual suspects include John Podesta, John White, Wendy Sherman, Sandy Berger, Robert Rubin, William Perry and Madeleine Albright. This cast of characters is right out of the Clinton playbook.

And Rahm Emanuel as chief of staff? It's like old home week.

Now comes word that Hillary will be tapped to be Secretary of State. Maybe those 3 a.m. phone calls can be forwarded to her extension. Can't wait to see her dodging sniper fire on her way to visit some war torn hot spot. Maybe Obama wants her for that cabinet post because Joe "stand up, Chuck" Biden put the fear of God in everyone with his remark that the new president will be tested with an international crisis within six months of taking office. Let's face it... you send Biden into a crisis situation and you end up with World War III.

I guess the only thing left is to appoint Bubba to the Supreme Court. Do the justices have interns? Just asking.

Shining City On A Hill No Longer?

We may never know why things turned out the way they did. History will probably attribute the result of the presidential election of 2008 to a number of different factors. Republicans abandoned their conservative principles and nominated a RINO for the top of the ticket. Whether that was due to the fact that there just wasn't anyone else qualified to take on the Democrats may take years to determine. The GOP has been in shambles since 2006, and the liberal left was just poised to take advantage of that fact.

It also didn't help that McCain sputtered during the last couple of weeks leading up to the election, leaving it up to Sarah Palin to carry the torch for his campaign. And as valiant an effort as she put forward, she was not able to save the ticket. In the aftermath, infighting and finger-pointing were the rule, with many McCain insiders laying the blame for his defeat squarely at Palin's door, sending her back to Alaska with a bitter taste for national politics in her mouth.

Now, as the Republican Party attempts to regroup and resurrect itself before 2010, one is left wondering if the direction our country is taking will be so far down a dangerous path as to make a return to the values our founding fathers intended virtually impossible.

Barack Obama feels he was given a clear mandate. Despite what we know about this man and his associations, the American people decided they wanted not just a tweaking of what isn't working in our country, but a sweeping change in our very system of government. And they will get it in an Obama administration.

The Marxist philosophy of income redistribution will soon become a reality. Joe the plumber and others will see their pockets picked by a regime that will determine where its new found wealth will be spent...and on whom. Our currency will be devalued, and possibly be replaced with another that will serve more than our country.

The fighting men and women of our United States military will leave Iraq and return home in disgrace, humiliation and defeat despite the Iraqi people begging us to stay and finish the job. Congress will cut defense spending by 25 percent, and put that money toward entitlement programs and other pork barrel projects.

Obama will sit down with those groups who endorsed him in this election. Members of Hezbollah, Hamas and other terrorist organizations will now see their wildest dreams fulfilled, as the United States waves the white flag of surrender. We will abandon Israel, and watch as they either preemptively strike Iran to take out their nuclear facilities to prevent their own destruction, or as Iran wipes them off the face of the earth while Obama and the Democrats in congress sit by and do nothing.

The mainstream media will drool all over this president for the next four years, chronicling his every decision as a brilliant move if not a divine inspiration sent from heaven above. After all, he is their messiah.

Talk radio, the last bastion of political free speech in this country, will be silence by Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer as the Fairness Doctrine is brought out of the closet, dusted off and put back into effect. The alternative media will attempt to carry on, but , alas, the Internet will probably also be given its marching orders to be fair and balanced.

With the far left in complete control, our nation will forever be changed. We will no longer be the shining city on the hill that Ronald Reagan so eloquently spoke of, but rather just another suburb of France.

One can only hope and pray that within the next two years the GOP can find its way, with new leadership and fresh blood ready to tackle the progressive movement before the dire predictions laid out here can come to pass.

The problem with conservatives is that we are just too nice. We play by the rules while the other side cheats. We stay above board, while they get down and dirty. Unless conservatives change their Weltanschauung, we may never be able to overcome the slippery slope leading to the demise of our nation.

Is The McCain Campaign Imploding?

As we approach the home stretch of this 2008 presidential election, several things have occurred to make me believe that John McCain's campaign is self-destructing.

First and foremost, there appears to be some dissension in the ranks of the McCain-Palin camp. Palin's handlers have restrained her from appearing on any more of the major news programs. She will not be visiting any of the Sunday morning talking head shows, and her appearances have been limited to campaign rallies. Rumors are flying that there are many in McCain's inner circle who have turned against Palin, now believing that she is not qualified to be a heartbeat away from the presidency.

Secondly, many in McCain's camp are suffering from a defeatist attitude with a little more than a week left before the big day. McCain has reportedly read the riot act to his staff, making clear that they must fight with him all out to win the election. McCain has made it clear that he will not tolerate the "blame game" that many of his advisers are engaging in, as Barack Obama retains a comfortable lead in national and swing state polls.

Morale is said to be very low among McCain's troops, calling his campaign lackluster. Some have even begun talking about what they will do after the election, as far as employment is concerned. It's as though they've thrown in the towel, and are just waiting out the clock.

Most polls show Obama with a comfortable lead heading into the final week. An Associated Press poll and an Investor's Business Daily poll show the race a lot closer, and the IBD poll in 2004 most accurately reflected voters' attitudes. This should encourage McCain's people, but apparently it has not.

With time running out, it seems clear that McCain has a very steep hill to climb. Obama is already measuring the drapes in the White House, and barring a miracle, we must face the real possibility that he will be our next president.

But McCain is right to chastise his staff. As Sarah Palin has said, it's not over until it's over. McCain could still do some things to turn it around.

He must continue to pound home the fact that what Obama offers in terms of tax policy is socialism, even Marxism. He must hammer away at the fact that an Obama presidency, combined with a Democrat controlled congress, would take this country so far to the left that our founding fathers would not recognize the nation they created.

McCain must also lay the blame for the economic crisis and bailout fiasco squarely at the foot of the Democrats, and indicate that he as a maverick will go after those responsible for the Fannie Mae - Freddie Mac meltdown. He should name names, and trot out Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney as two cabinet members he will appoint to bring justice to the American people. McCain can then point to Obama and ask who Obama would appoint to do the same thing. Harry Reid? Nancy Pelosi? Barney Frank?

Why McCain has failed to do these things up until now boggles the mind. But there is still a window of opportunity, albeit a small one.

Barring getting this message across or an October surprise so powerful that it rocks the very foundation of the Obama campaign, this election is lost.

Is Talk Radio Doomed?

A talk radio host in Pittsburgh was reprimanded by his employer on the air for being too critical of Barack Obama. KDKA-AM 1020 host Kevin Miller was silenced after his executive producer P.J. Kumanchik read a statement by CBS Radio accusing him of being unfairly biased against Obama. Then he offered the listeners to Miller's show an on-air apology saying "We want to apologize to listeners who have found your show offensive."

Then Kumanchik offered Obama three hours of airtime on KDKA in Miller's time slot. Miller, a Marconi Award nominee and former Army Reserve journalist, was accused of featuring guests who were not objective when reporting information about Obama. One of his guests, Dr. Jerome Corsi was interviewed about his investigation of Obama's connections to opposition leader Raila Odinga in Kenya. Corsi is the author of The Obama Nation, and Miller referred to him as a "true patriot".

Miller also expressed concern that the Obama campaign is attempting to silence his critics in talk radio. He said "Well Dr. Corsi, what scares me is, we've seen this from the Obama campaign, that they clearly target people such as yourself, talk radio stations – whether it's WGN or others or people like myself – that speak out," he said. "And if [Obama is] elected, we're going to have a different chorus when it comes to discourse in this country."

That is the absolute truth. Obama, along with his pals Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid would like nothing more than to bring back the Fairness Doctrine, the former policy of the Federal Communications Commission that required broadcasters to present all sides of an issue. It was the abolishment of the Fairness Doctrine in 1987 that spawned talk radio as we know it today. If Pelosi, Reid and their buddies in congress are able to re-implement the doctrine, talk radio will cease to exist. Our right of free speech will disappear. The face of political discourse in this country will forever be changed.

It would appear, however, that KDKA management and CBS have decided not to wait for the Fairness Doctrine to return. They have instead gone ahead and muzzled one of their own hosts for expressing his opinions about Barack Obama, and having guests who paint a less than flattering view of "The One". Are they doing so out of fear?

People should be very concerned about this development. If Obama is elected president and the Democrats retain their control of both houses of congress, talk radio, the blogosphere, conservative print media will all be shut down.

Just another thing to keep in mind as we go to the polls on November 4th.
