Sunday Mornings Will Never Be The Same

It was with great shock and sadness that we learned of the untimely passing of Tim Russert.

Here was the consummate journalist. Russert may have had leftist political leanings, but they were never evident on the air. Whether he was interrogating a liberal or a conservative, he was tough but fair. And I do not use the term interrogate lightly. All of his guests knew going in that they needed to do their homework before stepping into his arena.

Russert researched his subjects thoroughly. He would delve into statements they had made in the past, and took them to task on recent views which were in contrast to previous remarks. Many a time you could sense the discomfort from a guest being skewered with his own words up on the screen. But everyone from Howard Dean to Karl Rove walked away feeling they had been treated fairly. And as Rove put it this week, if after putting in two hours of preparation for a fifteen minute segment with Russert you walked away feeling you had gone toe to toe with him and come across well, that was quite an accomplishment.

Russert was also a loving husband, father and son. Russert's family meant the world to him. His best selling book about his father, Bid Russ and Me was quite a tribute, and it inspired a second book, Wisdom of Our Fathers, which was based on 60,000 letters he received from people for whom his relationship with his dad had struck a responsive chord.

A devout Catholic, it is said he attended mass almost every day. He lived his faith and his life to the fullest.

He will be sorely missed. And Sunday mornings will never be the same.

It's Over For Hillary? Don't Count On It

Hillary Rodham Clinton ended her historic bid for the White House on Saturday and enthusiastically endorsed Barack Obama.

Yeah, right.

She actually suspended her campaign, allowing her to hold on to her delegates and technically remain a candidate. She does so in the hope that something might happen which would change the minds of the superdelegates that have fallen over like dominoes for Obama.

And what, pray tell would make that happen? Another scandal, perhaps. One so devastating to the Obama camp that it would cripple his candidacy. There are rumors of a DVD which may soon surface, purportedly of Michelle Obama filmed between June 26th - July 1st 2004 in Chicago at the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition Conference at the Sheraton Hotel, specifically the women's panel, in which she launched into a rant about the evils of America. She blamed Bill Clinton for the deaths of millions of Africans and said America is responsible for the genocide of the Tutsis and other ethnic groups.

Then, she went on a rant against "whitey", talking about solutions to black on black crime in the realm of diverting those actions onto white America. Apparently the enthusiastic crowd ate it all up. She became more passionate and enraged as she went on, completely losing it at one point, saying things that make the mouths drop of everyone who has seen it.

There is no evidence yet that this DVD is anything other than an urban legend. There are those who say the DVD is in the hands of the GOP, which is waiting to use it as an October surprise. Others say journalists, perhaps even one of the major news networks has it, and is keeping it under wraps.

How would anyone have obtained a copy of this DVD? According to those who say it exists, the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago sold this DVD on its website, and possibly offered it free for download up until March 2008 when Trinity's site was scrubbed and the DVDs were no longer offered for sale.

In any case, Hillary has suspended her campaign and will pretend to be behind Obama all the way, perhaps hoping that the secret meeting they held the night before her suspension will result in her being put on the ticket as his vice-presidential running mate. Doubtful but possible.

All the while she is doing this, she will be biding her time, hoping against all hope that this recorded rant by Michelle Obama or some other scandal will break that will nuke Barack and return the Clinton machine to its former position of prominence.

We know the Clintons and what they are capable of doing. Don't count her out just yet.

Obama's Preacher Problems Mean Nothing

The Teflon candidate, Barack Hussein Obama, has resigned from his church following the latest scandal involving another preacher delivering racially charged comments. In this case, it was a guest speaker, a Roman Catholic priest, no less. Controversies surrounding the church have created persistent distractions to his campaign, so say his staffers.

The problem is, this means nothing. It never has. The Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Reverend Otis Moss and now Rev. Michael Pfleger, whose videotaped guest sermon at the church Sunday showed him taunting Hillary Clinton and saying she felt “entitled” to the presidency because she’s white would have decimated the campaign of any white candidate had they uttered such inflammatory words.

But because Obama is who he is, and because his supporters are bound and determined to propel him into the White House at any expense, this latest issue involving his church will go nowhere.

Yes, he quit the church as a symbolic gesture to distance himself from this Black Liberation Theology. But if people don't understand by now that spending twenty-plus years in an environment of black racial hatred rubs off on an individual, that being married and having your children baptized there will affect the very nature of your being, then they never will. Nor do they care to understand it.

Guilt by association will not damage the Obama campaign, even though it should cripple it. Barring a scandal involving Obama himself or his wife, in which either of them are seen saying some of the things his preacher friends have been recorded saying, Obama will sail his way though this thing.

It is rumored that the GOP has such a recording of Michelle Obama railing against White America at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.

Damn I hope it's true.

Hillary's RFK Comment Wishful Thinking?

The latest case of foot-in-mouth disease by Hillary Clinton may not be that at all. Her remarks to a South Dakota newspaper regarding why she has decided to remain in the presidential race despite incredible odds may have been a case of wishful thinking.

She cited the year of Robert Kennedy's assassination as an example of a long campaign season and why anything could possibly occur between now and the convention. She has since defended her comments in editorials in Sunday editions of the New York Daily News, saying they were taken out of context. She wrote: “I want to set the record straight: I was making the simple point that given our history, the length of this year’s primary contest is nothing unusual. Both the executive editor of the newspaper where I made the remarks, and Sen. Kennedy’s son, Bobby Kennedy Jr., put out statements confirming that this was the clear meaning of my remarks."

In her Sunday editorial, Clinton continued, “I realize that any reference to that traumatic moment for our nation can be deeply painful - particularly for members of the Kennedy family, who have been in my heart and prayers over this past week. And I expressed regret right away for any pain I caused. But I was deeply dismayed and disturbed that my comment would be construed in a way that flies in the face of everything I stand for - and everything I am fighting for in this election.”

Some political pundits on the Sunday morning talking head shows were outraged, while others were willing to give her a pass. Chris Wallace grilled Terry McAuliffe at length about Clinton's statements, pointing out that although she claimed to have Ted Kennedy's cancer diagnosis on her mind, she had made a similar reference to Bobby Kennedy's assassination in an interview for Time Magazine a few months earlier. McAuliffe could not weasel his way out of that one.

My friends, nothing can be put past the Clintons when it comes to a desired prize they are attempting to win. By planting the seed that Barack Obama's life may be in grave danger, Hillary accomplishes two things. She sends shivers up the spines of some Obama supporters who worry that their beloved messiah may somehow be a target, and it also gives crackpots and racists ideas.

Between the two scenarios, Hillary hopes that Obama's followers and superdelegates will do some re-thinking. In the meantime, if she can get Florida and Michigan delegates seated, she may just be able to pull off an upset. If not, she could still vie for the number two spot.

The problem is...Hillary is now damaged goods to the point where backroom attempts by her husband to get her on the ticket as Obama's running mate should she fail to secure the nomination may have been quashed. And her career as a senator may also be in jeopardy.

What Clinton said in her interview speaks to the very heart and soul of what she and her husband are: devious and outright evil.

Michael Goodwin, in an op ed piece in the New York Daily News hit the nail on the head when he wrote "We have seen an X-ray of a very dark soul. One consumed by raw ambition to where the possible assassination of an opponent is something to ponder in a strategic way. Otherwise, why is murder on her mind?"

Exactly.

All of the charges of racism leveled in this campaign pale in comparison to what Hillary's statements prove the Clintons really are.

Opportunists.

The Greatest Terrorist Threat Is Obama

When President Bush addressed the Israeli Knesset last week, he hit the nail directly on the head with his remarks about some who would seek to appease terrorists. Bush said: "Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along."

"We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: 'Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided.' We have an obligation to call this what it is _ the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history."

The Democrats went ballistic, accusing Bush of impugning Obama, who called Bush's remarks a false political attack. Everyone from Nancy Pelosi to John Kerry jumped all over the president, saying this kind of talk was beneath the dignity of the Commander-in-Chief, and decrying Bush's own foreign policy.

The Oval Office went on the defensive, claiming that Bush's comments were directed at Jimmy Carter, not Barack Obama. The fact of the matter is that Bush's statements were dead on, and they were directed not only at Obama, but to Democrats like Pelosi, Kerry and others who would attempt to honor our enemies around the world; those that would threaten to destroy us.

What Bush should have said in response to the Democrats' attacks is "If the shoe fits, wear it!"

Let's face it. What does he have to lose? He's in the final stretch of a lame duck presidency, and every word he uttered was the truth. And I would take it one step further. Obama is not attempting to appease the terrorists. Obama, by willing to unconditionally sit down with leaders such as Ahmadinejad, prove that Obama himself is the biggest terrorist threat right now to the safety and security of our nation.

A vote for Obama this November, will be a vote for Sharia law.

Why I Will Not Support McCain

If I had any doubts about whether to vote for John McCain in this year's presidential election, those doubts were laid to rest this past week when McCain sat down for an interview with Fox News host Bill O'Reilly. McCain solidified for me the fact that he is not a true conservative and not worthy of my support.

McCain proved that on some of the most crucial issues, he will let down a base of constituents that are looking for answers.

O'Reilly addressed the question of rising gasoline prices. Anyone with a brain in their head knows that only two things will help this nation break free of its dependence on foreign oil; drilling domestically while developing alternative fuel sources. But McCain is an environmentalist wacko who is opposed to tapping the supply of oil in this country because he wants to keep the land pristine. Utter nonsense.

On the use of waterboarding suspected terrorists for the purpose of gaining vital knowledge which would help prevent an attack on our soil, McCain is also opposed. Waterboarding has been successful in the past. It should not be discarded as a valuable tool in the war on radical Islam. As a matter of fact, other forms of torture should also be used. After all, these maggots are not part of an army. They are enemy combatants and are not covered by the Geneva convention.

The issue of illegal immigration was also covered in the interview, and once again McCain proved he's a one-worlder like George W. Bush who feels we should give amnesty to those who have broken the law to get into this country.

These things I just cannot abide.

We need a president who will work to round up the approximately 30 million illegals living here and ship their asses out. We need a president who will use whatever methods it takes to protect this nation from another terrorist attack, and we need a president who will break us free from the stronghold of OPEC by drilling in ANWR, North Dakota, and wherever else there is oil domestically.

John McCain is not that candidate, and I will not vote for him in November.

Fight On Hillary, Fight On

The Indiana and North Carolina primaries loom large this week for Hillary Clinton. Recent polls show that she is in a virtual dead heat with Barack Obama.

Obama's problems with his former pastor, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright just will not go away, as much as he would like them to. Wright continues to make news because he wants to remain in the spotlight. Wright, at first incensed that Obama finally tried to sever all ties with him over his incendiary remarks, now is enjoying his fifteen minutes of fame by appearing on programs such as Bill Moyers, and making speeches at NAACP dinners. What's next...his own late night talk show?

While all of this is going on, John McCain now has his own problems with religious figures. One of McCain’s religious supporters, John Hagee, called the Roman Catholic Church “the great whore.”Another, Rod Parsley, referred to Islam as a “false religion” that America was called on to destroy.

Hillary, in the meantime, has made an appearance on The O'Reilly Factor, saying she would have left Obama's church knowing what Wright had said.

Yeah, right.

In any event, with Hillary gaining momentum among the Democrat base despite the fact that the superdelegates are throwing their support behind Obama, she must continue to fight on.

No matter what happens in Tuesday's primaries, Hillary should not drop out of the race. She must take this fight all the way to Denver, where a brokered convention similar to the one that occurred in 1968 is certain to turn this race into a bloodbath, which will result in the destruction of the Democrat party.

Won't that be fun!

Who Is Wright Working For?

Just when you thought that Barack Obama would be able to put the Reverend Jeremiah Wright controversy behind him, the albatross around his neck became even heavier when Wright decided to return to the spotlight.

First, he agreed to a sit down interview with PBS's Bill Moyers, in which he says his fiery comments were taken out of context and used in a devious manner by the media to discredit him. Wright is also scheduled to appear Sunday in Detroit at the NAACP's 53rd annual Fight for Freedom Fund dinner. And a prominent Muslim leader from a Detroit suburb has urged support of Wright. Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi, head of the Islamic House of Wisdom in Dearborn Heights, said that during his sermon  at his mosque he planned to "condemn the unfair treatment" that he says Wright "received by some media members who are ignoring this faith leader's decades of dedication and services to this country and nation."

Well, let's face it. Obama has enough troubles dealing with his associations with shady characters such as William Ayers and Tony Rezko, his endorsements by "Calypso Louie" Farrakhan and Hamas, and the New Black Panther Party. The last thing he needs is his former pastor peeling back the scab on the wounds he implanted on Obama's campaign.

If Wright is truly a mentor to Obama, and genuinely wants him to win the presidency, why is he surfacing again only to remind not only Obama's detractors but also his supporters that he's still an issue? Is he angry at Obama for not defending his remarks? Are his appearances an act of revenge?

One has to wonder if Jeremiah Wright is not in fact working for Hillary Clinton. And John McCain must be loving every minute of it.

Obama Continues To Show His True Colors

Barack Hussein Obama never ceases to amaze us with his comments regarding the very people he claims to want to attract to his campaign. His most recent case of foot-in-mouth disease was evidenced last Sunday when he made disparaging remarks about the voters of Pennsylvania.

Obama was speaking to a group of wealthy California donors in San Francisco. He said that residents of small-town America “cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them” out of bitterness over lost jobs. When his opponents, Hillary Clinton and John McCain jumped all over the remarks as arrogant, Obama initially dug in his heels and defended them as being an accurate portrayal of the people in the heartland. But by this past weekend he found himself somewhat backtracking, saying he didn't quite phrase his comments the 'way I should have'.

I think Obama knew exactly what he meant to say. He believes that those who are religious cling to God out of a frustration with their lot in life, rather than out of a deep, abiding faith in a supreme being. And those who choose to exercise their second amendment rights do so out of anger and bitterness at corporate America, rather than the desire to protect themselves and their loved ones from the threat of criminals and a tyrannical government run amok.

This is the man who would have us believe that he wishes to heal the divide between the rich and the poor, and between black and white. This is the man whose socialist leanings are becoming more evident with the passing  of each day.

The fact is...Obama is an elitist. These comments clearly point to the classism that has been brewing beneath the surface of the man who pretends to be the "everyman" candidate.

We still know very little about Barack Obama. But every day we learn more and more about what he truly stands for and the shady characters he has allowed himself to be associated with. Those he says are mentors to him, such as the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, speak volumes about the very essence of who he is, where he really stands on America and its values.

If Obama really believes that faith in a living God and the exercising of the rights guaranteed us in the United States Constitution are some sort of crutches born out of anger, bitterness and xenophobia, is this them man we want leading us into the 21st century?

I think not.

Time To Just Say No To Obama

We at America Talks are launching a concerted effort to see to it that Barack Hussein Obama is not elected the next president of the United States. He is a dangerous individual who would do great harm to this country. Obama's associations with people of questionable character, his friendship with a racist pastor whose comments he claims he disavows, his plans to negotiate with and placate terrorists and terrorist sympathizers, leads us to believe that his not an honorable man who is looking out for the interests of our nation.

Obama's questionable past, his embellishment of his father's legacy, his inability to answer the tough questions regarding who he is and what he stands for, all add up to a man who does not belong in the highest office in the land.

To this end, we are launching a new campaign, a Jihad if you will, to prevent Obama from getting elected without his true colors being exposed.

You can help in this effort by supporting Hillary Clinton's efforts to remain in the campaign all the way to the democrat convention in August. If there is a brokered convention, if the democrat party is torn apart by this fight, so be it. Anything and everything that will keep Obama out of office must be attempted.

We invite you to visit our online store. There you can purchase "Just Say Nobama" merchandise. By saying loud and proud that you don't want this man elected, you will be standing up for America and its people.

So visit our online store today... and "just say no" to Barack Hussein Obama.

Obama Woke The Sleeping Giant

Barack Obama has based his entire candidacy on one thing. He wanted to be the first African-American to run for the presidency keeping the issue of race as far into the background as possible. And he almost succeeded in pulling the wool over America's eyes.

His good looks and charismatic appeal made many people view him as the next JFK. Some even thought of him as the second coming of Jesus Christ. We've all seen the pictures of him wowing the crowds with his oratories, women swooning, men cheering. And these were people of all races and creeds, desperate for a candidate who could transcend the barrier of hatred that has so divided this country over its entire history. Even those of us who are conservative, and who despise the misguided vision of the left had to admit that here was a man who broke through the walls that have kept our nation disunited for some 200-plus years.

But wait.

Were we really that far apart? What I mean is...the wounds of racial hatred have, over the past 20 years or so, been healing. The average American, black and white, doesn't harbor any ill will over those of other ethnicities. Most of us get along quite well. We didn't need a guy like Obama to remind us that race should not be an issue. The fact that he was embraced by the voting public should have been an indication that America was ready to put bigotry behind it and accept a black candidate.

And then Obama blew it.

We suddenly find out that we knew absolutely nothing about this guy called Barack Obama. For twenty years, he attended a church in Chicago pastored by a racist whose hatred for America, and especially whites in America, is blatant. Reverend Jeremiah Wright believes our nation was responsible for the attacks of 9-11, and that aids was created to exterminate the black race.

Obama then gave a speech in which acted as an apologist for Wright and refused to disown him. In fact, he continues to embrace him.

That's when the sleeping giant was awakened. The campaign that was supposed to eliminate color suddenly found itself embroiled in controversy. Obama pulled the scabs from the healing wounds of racial divide and now the issue of race is on the front burner.

Will Obama's candidacy be hurt by this? Most certainly. Will his continued association with this church be scrutinized? Absolutely. Will Hillary Clinton and John McCain benefit? You bet.

Will America suffer?

It already has.

Bush Thinks McCain Is A Conservative

President Bush, in an exclusive interview with Fox News Sunday's Chris Wallace, said he believes John McCain is a true conservative, who is strong on defense, fiscally tough and thinks the Bush tax cuts should be made permanent. He also thinks McCain has a tough job ahead of him convincing other conservatives that he is one of their own.

When asked about criticism by conservative pundits like Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter, the president said "I think that if John is the nominee, he has got some convincing to do to convince people that he is a solid conservative and I'll be glad to help him if he is the nominee."

How in the name of God can he help? Bush has proven he is not a fiscal conservative, he is weak on immigration reform and border security, he has sold our sovereignty down the river, and has done more to destroy the Republican base than any other person in recent memory.

Bush said some of the criticism of McCain was the result of "probably, some personal animosity toward me. You can't please all the people all the time." Bush has certainly proven he can't please those in his own party and constituency. And he's in denial if he thinks that the Democrats can't win the presidency by focusing on him. The Democrats took both houses of congress in 2006 by focusing on Bush and those conservatives who were fed up with Bush's failure to live up to their expectations.

Although he stopped short of endorsing McCain, he appears clearly to be passing the torch to the senator from Arizona.

That torch may send the GOP up in flames.

Another Hussein Threatens America

The United States defeated an evil dictator when it toppled Saddam Hussein in 2003. America now faces a grave threat from another Hussein. Barack Hussein Obama promises to destroy the very fabric of our nation. He threatens our sovereignty with  his advocacy of drivers licenses for illegal aliens. He says that this should not pose an obstacle on the road to the White House because John McCain holds the same position. The fact that McCain is a Republican in name only should be of little comfort to true conservatives who are concerned about security of this nation and the serious issue of illegal immigration.

Hussein Obama's support of liberal entitlement programs would sink this nation into a recession deeper than anything we are facing at the present time. His wet-behind-the-ears record as a junior senator who voted "present" most of the time indicates his lack of commitment to his country and his record as a public servant.

But the biggest problem with Hussein Obama is his Muslim background. He can deny to high Heaven that he is a Muslim, and mask it with his so-called profession of Christian faith. But make no mistake about it. Hussein Obama is a Muslim and the evidence can be found here and here.

The thought of Hussein Obama as commander-in-chief should send shivers up and down the spines of every America citizen as we fight the War on radical Islam.

Barack Hussein Obama is being portrayed as the second coming of JFK. He even has the endorsement of the Kennedy Camelot machine. JFK may have been a Democrat, but he was a patriot who would never have sold our nation out. The same cannot be said of Obama.

The electorate is in a no-win situation this presidential election year. Conservatives will probably end up with McCain as the nominee. And if Hussein Obama secures the nomination of the Democrat party, and defeats McCain in the general election in November, this great nation will be at risk of being run by a Hussein worse than the one we dealt with five years ago.

Not Much Choice For Republicans

Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh was heard the other day saying on his nationally syndicated program that he may not endorse a Republican candidate for president this year.

Limbaugh may be doing the right thing. There isn't one contender in the GOP bunch right now that satisfies the Republican base. John McCain is a Republican in name only. His campaign finance reform bill soured him to those who feels it tramples on free speech. He is fiscally liberal and his stance on immigration leads one to believe he is not an advocate for the sovereignty of this great nation.

Mike Huckabee also has some fiscally liberal ideas and his current stance on immigration doesn't jibe with his record as Arkansas governor. His fair tax plan is attractive, yet his religious zealotry hasn't been enough to resonate with anyone beyond the Iowa caucuses.

Mitt Romney is as phony as a three dollar bill. And he has flipped-flopped more than Democrat John Kerry ever did.

Rudy Giuliani's record as America's mayor is tainted by his relationships with Bernard Kerik and fellow cronies. He is also liberal on social issues which disturbs conservative constituencies.

So there we have it, folks. It's going to be an African-American or a female carpetbagger versus a pack of Republicans with small "r"s. I pity the electorate come this November.

McCain Is A Train Wreck For The GOP

John McCain's clinching of the primaries in New Hampshire and South Carolina indicates that the GOP has serious problems. McCain is the least conservative of all of the Republican contenders, yet somehow his message appears to be resonating with disenfranchised voters.

McCain's win puts him in a position to trounce all comers in the Florida primary January 29th and Super Tuesday on February 5th. But his lack of the values conservatives espouse could spell disaster for Republicans who want to make sure that a true alternative to the liberal rhetoric of Hillary and Obama is offered.

Until now, there has been no frontrunner in the GOP race, with Huckabee winning the Iowa caucuses, Romney winning lower-profile Wyoming, Michigan and Nevada primaries, and McCain taking New Hampshire and now South Carolina.

Now admittedly Romney has the highest delegate count so far, but things could quickly change in the days ahead, which could spell trouble for those of us who wanted almost anyone but McCain.

How much longer Mike Huckabee will be able to hold on is uncertain. But Huckabee was counting on a clear victory from conservative Christians which he didn't get, largely from the undecideds. He's still a contender, but he is beginning to falter. Depending on how Giuliani does in Florida, his campaign could tank, and Fred Thompson is now on life support.

Which leaves us with McCain. He is a true war hero, and a fine man. But he is not a fiscal conservative, not a hawk when it comes to foreign policy, not a friend of those opposed to illegal immigration, and his campaign finance reform bill soured many in his party to anything else he might have to say.

Should McCain survive and become the nominee of the GOP, he will have truly risen from the dead. But like the old saying goes, his light at the end of the tunnel could be the headlights of an oncoming train wreck which might propel a democrat into the White House this November.
